Responsibilities

For group jams I take on a producer and designer role, organising tasks, and bringing the team together to brainstorm and refine the idea. During the jams, I help the team make decisive design decisions that keep the essence of the game idea intact. I assist with programming tasks that allow the dedicated programmers to prioritise and focus on key game features. This often falls within the scope of my level design duties where I focus on how to best craft the environment and pacing to deliver the intended player experience.

Game Jams

Global Game Jam 2024 - Freedom of Theatre
(Made in ~8 hours while hosting the Brisbane jam site)

In this jaunty medieval theatre production you take on the role of set designer and director. In this click and drag freeform play, put together a scene from the available props and act out the story with the actors waiting in the wings for your direction.

Global Game Jam 2023 - Synthfarm Nightmare

(Made in ~4 hours while hosting the Brisbane jam site)

In this endless shooter you need to defend your farm from the incoming spaceships while vibing to the synthwave beats.

Global Game Jam 2022 - Two Sides of the Same Story

(First Unreal Engine game)

During your investigation of the raided community garden, get dragged into an escalating conflict between two little old lady neighbours as you desperately attempt to ask them about what you actually care about.

Global Game Jam 2021 - Sock Goblin

The Sock Goblin has been inadvertently summoned by a witch and he's here to cause chaos in this local multiplayer game of cheeky inconvenience. In this 2-player only game, take turns playing as either the Sock Goblin, stealing and hiding socks, or the Witch, frantically throwing furniture around in an attempt to keep the socks safe.

Global Game Jam 2020 - Blossom

The last world tree in existence is dying. You are a friendly gardener that is on a mission to heal it with your flowers. Maintain the status quo of the soil so your seeds can grow and bloom. As you complete levels more seeds and flowers become available to you.

Global Game Jam 2019 - A Christmas Dinner With The Family (VR)

Play as a lonely grandparent making Christmas dinner for your family. Prepare the ingredients and set the table as you move around the space with a walker in VR. Things get a little sad as your family calls 1-by-1 to let you know they won't be coming.

Global Game Jam 2018 - A Support Network for Astro-Communication

Your translator's broken and you have no idea how to pilot this crashing ship. Call the SNAC Ship-Support and have them transmit the instructions that you'll have to manually translate using your Alien-to-English app. Follow the instructions and you'll make it out alive.

QUT Game Development Club - Sam's Hellish Nightmare

Play as Sam, the art director for this game, as he wakes up and realizes he's been forced to make a first-person maze game for the game jam. Traverse the maze to find ballista bolts in order to kill Satan and make this hellish nightmare more bearable.

QUT Game Development Club - Orbital Smash

Partake in an interplanetary war for the resources of the solar system. Charge up your interplanetary cannon and use the gravitational pull of the sun to your advantage.

QUT Game Development Club - Hook your hunger

You have been chosen to test the brand new inter-dimensional burger stacking simulation. Satisfy the digital overlords on the other side of the portal by fulfilling orders within the time limit. Once you're done, build your own burger as a testament to your skills. Show your burger off to other people and have them strive to build a bigger one.

QUT Game Development Club - Penguin Escape
(Made for the QUT Cube, one of the world's largest digital interactive learning and display spaces)

Help a captured penguin escape a laboratory by ensuring the pathway is clear and accessible. Use the touch screens to activate platforms, elevators, and bridges to ensure the penguin makes it back to nature.

Brisbane 48 Hour 2016 - Cake My Day
(My first game jam. The build was lost to time but this entry is included for sentimentality)

It's the school bake off and you're out to prove you're the best granny around. In this local 4-player twin-stick arena, throw cakes and other baked goods at the other grannies to come out on top.
